Same heading as before and with good reason. Helping others seems to be my niche (pronounced 'neesh' not 'nitch', but that's just me being picky). Something else to expand on in a future issue? ~( ;- ))
So, why use the same heading? It's to show you how I realized what appears to be my niche, so that you can identify your own if you haven't already done so. Some people have difficulty with that and understand better from coming back to the subject for a more detailed explanation. Plus, it's the reason behind the main content of this issue.
If success requires a strong interest in what you choose to do, how does that strong interest manifest itself for you? Is it in being a collector of cigarette cards or Beanie Babies? Following sport and collecting statistical data? Are you a Charity worker or local youth organiser? Whatever your niche might be, you must have a keen interest or you wouldn't have the motivation to keep going.
But does that keen interest often get in the way for you? Certainly does for me. Frustrating isn't it? Like now. Trying to setup a complete marketing plan, which can easily be duplicated by others, can be slightly involved if you want to do it correctly from the start. Especially if you want it to be different from all the other plans available.
Suddenly, you get an idea or a certain thought crosses your mind. And then you break off and write copy for your newsletter, setting you back by as long as it takes to put your ideas into printable words.
See what I mean? Now tell me the alternative. Maybe you don't see yourself as a writer, or that you don't have anything useful to share. You'd be wrong there, incidentally. But if you do get useful ideas, what do you do with them? Whether you see yourself as a writer or not.
Writing your ideas down on bits of paper won't take nearly as long as putting them into proper text. But, if you don't write 'em up and file 'em, what happens? The notes get left until later, littering your workspace, and might never see the light of day again. The idea dies or you can't make sense of the notes after the initial idea has gone to lie.
The way I see it is that the writing of the things which come into my head feels more important than getting the marketing plan finished.
Now that causes a slight conflict. The marketing plan, when done, will be a tool for generating a direct income, whereas the newsletter is an indirect source... and only then if the subscribers trust the writer and find the content beneficial.
Maybe it's the memory of a tape I heard that does it. One trainer was interviewing another on the subject of success and how to obtain it. The question came up on the reason why so many people fail.
"If you want to be successful, you need to take your mind off the money and be productive" was the answer from the interviewee.
So it looks like that's what's driving me. Put it together with the reason for NervousNewbies creation and it seems my niche found me, rather than the other way around.
What the heck's a niche?
Briefly, in the context of marketing, a niche is a particular segment of a broader market, or a market in and of itself.
If you want to make a decent income you should look for a market which interests you, and which has a good number of people who are buying products in relation to that market.
For example, say you're a biker. OK? Motor-cycles is a niche, but you might find there is a large segment of searchers interested in the best motorcycle ever made, the British built Triumph Bonneville. ~( ;- >) (That's a twisted grin, btw - 'cos I owned one, and a 3TA)
In this instance you find 50% of the interest in motorbikes is directed at Triumphs, and 50% of that interest is in the Bonnie. With bikes being your bag, then it would make sense to make the Bonnie your speciality seeing 25% of the total market is interested.
Get in the general m/cycle market anyway. No point losing out on those who might find you while looking for another steed. They might buy your clothing and sundries, right?
But there's a little bit more to it than that. Nothing's ever as simple as you were told, is it? No... what you also have to consider is the supply factor. How many marketers will you be competing with in the m/cycle market and the Bonnie market in particular? That's as important as finding out what the demand is like for whatever you're thinking of concentrating on.
Now you're wondering "Is this guy crazy? Making his niche in the online home business market? Everybody's doing that and trying to sell the same thing!"
Good point... and I sometimes wonder. But when you think about the amouint of real support you've actually received out of all that was promised in order to get you to buy this book or that program... then this guy isn't quite so crazy.
True, the online home income market is huge and the supply factor is probably greater. Not only do you have the constant stream of new cyber citizens latching on to the biggest selling deals of the moment, but you also have an ever increasing band of "experts" to compete with in the online work from home market.
How many of those "experts" and "gurus" actually give any real, live support? And how many people would relish having someone who is prepared to do that? The balance of supply and demand puts a different tilt on the scales now, dunnit? Maybe that's what a nitch niche is.
Face the Fear
False Expectations Appearing Real
The sub-head is from Zig Ziglar, and others no doubt. A quote from the great French philosopher Montaigne, goes:- "My life has been filled with terrible misfortune, most of which never happened."
Both the above quotes are relevant as far as any new activity is concerned. Like writing a newsletter. Especially in a competitive market, like Internet marketing.
You do realize that if you want to make money on the 'Net, you're going to have to do some marketing, don't you? That's just the technical term for getting the word out to the masses about whatever it is that you're hoping to make money from.
Sorry if those explanations are too basic and first grade stuff, but the fact a simple term has been explained illustrates the main aspect of what this newsletter is here for. It's aimed primarily at first-graders in Internet Marketing. So, please bear that in mind before criticising me for stating the bleedin' obvious. ~( :- ))
And this is where F-E-A-R comes in. It's the thing that holds us back from trying something new. And when you think about it, fear of the unknown is illogical. I mean, how can you fear what you don't know? Doesn't make sense. Leastways, not in this context. Maybe if you were putting your life at risk... but that's a different ball game.
There's always an element of risk, especially where change is concerned; in this case, changing your financial position. If you want the fruit, you're going to have to go out on a limb and do what you believe is in the best interest of all concerned.
The only risk here is the possibility of losing some time and maybe some marketing money. Ironically, those with the greatest fear of losing are those with the least to lose and the most amount of available time to work on improving their situation. Time which would probably be otherwise spent in time-wasting or non-productive activities.
If you have an idea you have to follow it through. Ideas were followed through by primitive beings with far less intelligence than you, and if they hadn't followed through, how long would it have taken for humanity to get the wheel? Or even something as basic as a chair?
Everything in existence which is man-made was first an idea in the mind of a human being. Your thoughts and ideas can be brought to reality just the same. All it takes is belief that it can and will happen.
If your idea works - Great! If it doesn't work and you survived - that's great too.
Think that's crazy? Not at all. You will have got out of your comfort zone and had a go. All is not lost. You only have to tweak your idea or change tactics. Don't be afraid to try something different, new even.
Seeing Your Future
My 'WHY'?
My belief is in the idea that this newsletter serves a useful purpose and will enjoy a measure of success. Reality dictates that it won't suit everybody. Maybe it's too rambling for some, too long, or sometimes too blunt and outspoken.
At the same time reality also dictates that some, hopefully a decent number of people will appreciate the style and stay, maybe also give their feedback as was the case previously,
Que sera. Whatever happens, this newsletter is part of the key to achieving my "Why?", and that "Why?" should be obvious to you now. Was there a fear in getting started? Yes - but only a fear for the ego. "What if nobody reads it?" was a thought. "What if they read it and don't like it?" was another. The thoughts were dismissed. I just got on with it.
What follows is the first draft of my Affirmation which you may modify to your own purpose if you choose to. You'd have to imagine the 2 areas where I currently live and previously lived, in order to fully appreciate why it was written as it stands. There is a stark contrast between the 2 areas, even though only a few miles apart.
Currently, home is sharing the house of a dear friend in a town; not a particularly large town but similar in size to where I was born and raised. More recently, home was out of town in a sparsely populated area with even fewer residents than the country town where married life was lived. Small, in this case, is beautiful!
It would not be fair to elaborate on diffences and it would show ingratitude by doing so. That's another important point to remember - gratitude!
Always be grateful for the things you DO have, no matter how badly off you think you are. There's always someone, somewhere, far worse off than yourself. Stuck in a situation from which they can see no escape, in poor health or without the many benefits which we in the developed world take for granted - as our right.
Even so, I am grateful for what I have and where I live currently, but there's nothing wrong in wanting to improve your situation, whatever it might be. Take what you will from the following, and, by the way -Shadow is my K9 companion and faithful friend. ~( :- ))
The Affirmation.
My reason for doing what I am doing is so that I can obtain, by one means or another, a place
where I can live in a quiet environment, as long as it is obtained lawfully, without causing harm
to another and in the best interests of all concerned.
This place will be in a good state of repair and suitable for Shadow, close to a body of water
and a wooded area, visible from the house and within walking distance so I can walk quietly
with Shadow and generate more useful written material through quiet, relaxed contemplation.
The area will be similar to both my house at Loveclough and the recently renovated cottage
on the road at Habergham Eaves; sparsely populated and out of town but within easy reach
of shops and other necessary facilities and on a bus route but with safe car parking also.
Accommodation will be similar in size or greater than my previous house with at least
the same number of rooms. There will be a room with a pleasant outlook for exclusive use as
an office, an adjoining room for TV, video and music entertainment and a separate sanctuary
to use exclusively for contemplation and meditation. There will be a room used primarily for
physical exercise, yoga and other natural therapies.
An open garden will be at the front of the house, and at the rear will be an enclosed garden
with a hard area for Shadow. The house will have a garage plus hard-standing for car parking
in the open air. Both gardens will be low maintenance, mainly grass, shrubs and trees with
a wooden deck in the rear garden, accessed from the kitchen and with tapped water supply.
There will be an outside lavatory and a removeable manhole cover for easy yard cleansing.
Back indoors the kitchen will be large enough to incorporate a dining area to cater for 4 people
with an easy clean floor surface and ample space for all the necessary and essential appliances
with ample power points. There will be a downstairs lavatory and a separate wet room, whilst
upstairs there will be a comfortably sized bathroom with a corner jacuzzi bath plus a separate
shower cubicle, comfortably large enough to accomodate 2 adults.
There will be 2 double size bedrooms and a third bedroom, all with ample power points and the
master bedroom being wired for relaxing sound from CD music. There will be storage cupboards
on the landing for bedding; bedroom units will be built-in and furniture will be kept to a minimum.
All unnecessary, unwanted and redundant clutter will be disposed of and ornaments will be
kept to a minimum with regularly used items housed in dust-proof cabinets or similar units.
HOW it shall be obtained.
I leave the source up to the Universe to provide but I shall do all in my power to cause certain events to manifest themselves by my own conscious efforts and by doing good works for the
benefit of others, not solely for my own personal gain, so as to justify my anticipated rewards.
So, what is important to me?
Certainly not being called "guru", that was stated last time. But achieving a good and honorable reputation, now that's a worthy goal. And it's easy for anybody who's prepared to provide support for others in the simple ways I have planned for you to earn income by working from home on the Internet.
A very helpful eBook to help move you forward is the model behind the Affirmation you just read. It's under daily scrutiny, as per the method taught in the book. Click here and take a few minutes to read what the author has to say about it.
Whatever you want, that eBook will show you the way. Powerful stuff... and the price is more than fair. It's made a big difference to me.
Questions Re Previous Issue
Yours, if you have any... not mine
This is something to be organised shortly... promise. At the moment there's a phone number and ID for Yahoo Messenger but I shall work out a way for genuine people to eMail without risk of myself getting spammed by some idiot webfisher with clever software. Just another task on the list right now. Hope you understand.
Resisting the temptation to go deeper into that subject right now because it's time for some shut-eye here in my cave in NW England.
What Do You Want?
Another thing to be organised shortly... promise on that too. Same reasons as above. These 2 items were intended to be covered, so it seems fair to let you know what you might expect in due course.
And Now - A Question For You
But before answering, please review the last 2 sections:- Who Do You Listen To? and What Does 5Ns Offer?
So, time for the question to be asked. Actually, it's 2 questions, but that's just my way. Based on what you've read in this edition, do you consider the content useful? If so, and I hope you do, would you consider following the opinions and aims which NervousNewbies.com expresses and is striving to achieve?
Answers on a postcard, please.
Sorry - joking, but couldn't resist. However, real communication would be great and much appreciated. And if you do feel that this Newsletter might be of benefit to someone you know... please tell them where to find it. Thanks.
